Say Ahhhhh....

Jacob and Ella went to the dentist on Tuesday. This was Jacob's second time and Ella's first. We were really surprised that both kids did great. Actually, we were both surprised that Ella did geat. Jake is fine most of the time, but Ella always wants Mommy.

The kids picked out their toothbrushes (Dora for Ella and Darby, Tigger, and Pooh for Jacob) and laid right down and let the lady clean their teeth. They were so cute. We were allowed to come in and have a conference with the dentist who repeated the phrase "future orthodontics patients" one too many times. We were told to take lots of pictures of Jacob's "movie star smile" now because his adult teeth are too large for the spaces his little teeth will leave behind. FUTURE ORTHODONTICS PATIENT. Then with Ella, he asked if she used a pacifier. "No." Does she suck her thumb? "No." Hmmm... FUTURE ORTHODONTICS PATIENT. Poor Ella's baby teeth are crooked already and the x-rays showed that her adult teeth are crooked inside her gums. Good ol' Rhodes family genetics!

Afterwards, the kids received a sticker and a bouncy ball and we went to Braum's for burgers and ice cream.

Today we went to an artists' reception at the Kemp Cente for the Arts. Everyone who had entered their photography contest was invited. We walked around looking at pictures, sculptures, and artwork and ate cookies and tiny sandwiches.

Once at home, we watered our plants and found the first of the hibiscus blossoms. Ella wore it as a hat and got pollen all over her hair. Jacob's sunflowers are now up to his waist.

Ella's All-Nighter

First Popsicles

Today Jacob went into town with me to run errands on the promise that we'd stop and get a snowcone. Well... I forgot the cash, so after much convincing, Jacob said okay to popsicles. He picked out the superhero pack (of course) and enjoyed a Spider Man while Ella prefered Iron Man. The stains on thier hands and faces have not come off yet, so I think that the rest of these will be enjoyed while in the swimming pool.
